The upstream solution requires the xrdp sub module libpainter enabled. Unfortunately the first release of libpainter was alongside xrdp v0.9.1, which means the 0.9.0~ git snapshot we ship in Leap 42 doesn't have the code and support for it. I will fix this for SLE 15 and Leap 15 by turning on the --enable-painter switch.
