kernel.sem per kernel flavor limit is much lower than the current defaults Current kernel defaults: kernel.sem = 32000 1024000000 500 32000 the limit provided by the sysctl files is: kernel.sem = 250 256000 32 1024 So you are not currently "Increasing defaults for IPC" as the comments says..but lowering them.(same deal for shmmax and shmall apparently)
