$>/usr/sbin/modinfo i915 | grep filename

filename:
/lib/modules/3.16.7-21-desktop/updates/drivers/gpu/drm/i915/i915.ko

So I guess the updated package is installed.

I'm not familiar with OBS's structure. How do you get these packages? Can these
be installed alongside 13.2 without disturbing anything (other than rebooting
and selecting a different kernel)?

The kernel I tried from Intel's graphics site is labelled as
4.1.0-21-desktop-test+ , so I guess it is a 4.1 variant. The display was not
showing any tearing or flicker on any colour. glxgears reported running in
v-sync mode, so the frame rate was 60fps, but desktop effects and general
operation were fast and appeared to be accelerated. Pity that this kernel is
not stable or supported yet (WiFi was not working and I did not tried much
beyond that)
