https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=343901 Summary: Installation witch ISCSI fails Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: i386 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Blocker Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: joachimt@muenster.de QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: Customer Hi, I have tried to install an opensuse 10.3 on an ISCSI Disk. I have downloaded the opensuse-10.3-mini-CD. On a normal i386 PC I have booted from the CD und startet a Manual Setup, First I loaded the TCP-SCSI Module, which was fine. Then I startet a Network Installation via http which was ok too. Unfortunenatly in the Partinoning part of yast my iscsi target was not recognized. The reason was that the iscsid was not running. So I started the daemon from another console. After that I could see my target. Then I created a boot partition on my local disk, so I am able to boot ( having in mind to boot via pxe afterwards the basic installation has completed) and the root partition on ISCSI Disk. The basic installation of the rpm Packages worked fine until the first boot. The kernel und initrd were loaded from my boot device on the local disk but the init Skript invoking the S12-ICSI,sh Skript was not able to see my ISCSI Target. The output was: Starting SCSI Daemon iscsiadm: No records found The init Skript was waiting for the root Partition, obivously a hotplug device, /dev/disk-by-id/ISCSI.......... to apear. At the end a bash did start. with iscsiadm -m discovery -t st -p 192.168.1.125:3260 I could see my ISCSI Target. So I think maybe there is something wrong in the initrd Script, perhaps in the timing. (I have seen a static usleep after starting the iscsi daemon) Best regards Joachim Tork -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
