Please disregard my last comments. It has nothing to do with the ksmserver.
I just installed Build 330 using a USB thumb drive. Once I finished installing
Leap 42.3 the system booted up to my plasma workspace.
I deleted the "Default openSUSE panel", then right-clicked on the screen and
selected to add the openSUSE panel back again.
I checked dmesg first. It shows:
