The simplest solution for it would be to patch the entry "external_sources_link" in /etc/YaST2/ProductFeatures in the post install script (with checking if it is an upgrade) in the release package (e.g. openSUSE-release-15.1). This would also synchronize zypper and YAST again. All other entries in /etc/YaST2/ProductFeatures are not relevant for an product upgrade and would stay.
