Thanks for reporting with with the version and simple reproduction steps. I
tried it and it works for me, on the reported version and the upcoming 106.0.5.
This is on LXDE.

I also looked at the file in the archive /usr/lib64/firefox/browser/omni.ja and
they are identical. So the files seems to be intact and it looks like an
environmental issue. "no root element" may indicate a problem extracting, but
if that were the case I would expect other issues.
