IIUC this would basically mean reverting the Mesa Mega Driver Patches (see e.g. https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=MTQ3Mzc) Getting this upstream? No chance! Do we want to carry all these patches around for the time being? I don't think so.
