For some reason KIO logs quite a few files because "the file doesn't have any
xattr", that should be reported upstream, it doesn't belong into the system
log.

Unfortunately the cause for this isn't really visible. What you could do is try
suspend/resume cycles until it breaks again and collect some info, like the CPU
and memory use of each process.

The system had quite a long uptime, so if something was leaking memory
constantly, that could've accumulated. Though the symptoms could also be caused
by broken access to the root filesystem, which has similar effects.
