I would suggest to remove the start of the gnome-settings-manager in the config when starting i3. Because this is causing the issue and it's kind of a background process running in gnome (not necessarry in i3) there is no need to fix it in i3. With the standard configuration the issue isn't present. This is my autostart: exec /usr/lib/polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1 exec nm-applet exec pasystray exec blueman-applet polkit authentication agent is for saving settings to polkit without root and something (needed for network manager and some more applications)
