YaST logs are missing but I did a fresh installation and would say that unfortanely yast2-ldap is not well maintained (see https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1083328) As commented in the documentation you linked, in openSUSE Leap 15.4 the LDAP service is provided by the 389 Directory Server, replacing OpenLDAP but yast2-ldap has not been adapted and as it is already mentioned in (https://github.com/yast/yast-users/pull/366) it does things incorrectly. I would try to migrate from openLDAP to 389-ds manually and in case the integration will DHCP and DNS server is needed probably the best approach by now is doing it manually. BTW, will involve current yast2-ldap maintainers just in case they plan to improve the current situation.
