I tried now again and installed the updates. 
Result: kaffeine segfaults immediately after changing a channel. 
Without the update no segfault.
Here is the output with all mesa and vlc debug libraries installed and ... I am
not managing to get a backtrace.
If you can make it to explain to me how to get a backtrace I would be happy.
