Hm, I cannot really reproduce the issue with the LibreOffice:4.3 repo...

It works fine on a fresh 13.1 installation with the shipped libreoffice.

After installing all updates (including libreoffice to 4.1.6) the wizards don't
work, I get a similar but different error (something about "tuple index out of
range").

I then installed libreoffice 4.3.6.2 from the LibreOffice:4.3 repo, and it
works fine again.

The error message makes me suspect it is somehow related to the templates
though.
Have you installed the template packages from the LO:4.3 repo as well, or are
you still using the 13.1 ones?

Try to switch _all_ packages to the repo as instructed here:
https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Vendor_change_update#Full_repository_Vendor_change

Does it work with a fresh user account?

And what libreoffice packages (templates in particular) do you have installed
exactly?
rpm -qa libreoffice*
