I cannot reproduce this behaviour in a KDE VM nor in my regular Xfce setup,
both Copy Message Link and Copy Text work as they should.

Do you also get this behaviour with the Upstream Binary?

Could you check whether you have the xdg-desktop-portal[-kde,-gnome] packages
installed?
