On 16T or larger drives with 4k sector sizes and no legacy sector size
emulation, the minimum ESP size is 260M. The preferred format for ESP is FAT32,
but FAT formatters typically only format FAT32 if the partition size is 512M or
larger. Thus we commonly see ESP default sizes far in excess of optimal. I had
no problem getting openSUSE's partitioner to accept my pre-defined and
formatted 320M FAT32 ESP. The openSUSE installer does not enforce a half
gigabyte ESP. Window's common 100M ESP is accepted by the openSUSE installer,
just with an arguably needless intimidating warning, that if it was up to me, I
would do away with, unless the installation target was a 16T or larger disk.
