It's not the short option (-x --[TAB][TAB] most probably works). The command
name detection did not do a word-match. '-s', wrongly matching
'refresh-services', was used as a command and 'zypper help -s' did not deliver
any longopts to offer. 
Good catch.

Fixed in zypper-1.14.27
