I've found some conflicting pieces of information about this paramter. For sure
it's been dropped in some Kernel version, but I'm just not sure about the
number.

Some write that since 5.4 /elevator/ does not work anymore and that message is
there since 5.5.

Of course, customers WANT to set it somehow, so just simply dropping is not an
option. We'll need to add support for configuring that, e.g. by with udev
