strace log of javaldx
You can start the main LibreOffice program, but you can't start any of the
actual tools (Writer, Calc, Impress, etc). If you run it from a terminal, you
see an ominous message:
% libreoffice
javaldx: Could not find a Java Runtime Environment!
Warning: failed to read path from javaldx
However, I do have a Java runtime installed (and it is in my path). I've
attached the strace logs for the javaldx program, which clearly detects my
installed java binary (which lives at /usr/bin/java).
% rpm -q libreoffice java-1_9_0-openjdk-headless
libreoffice-5.1.3.1-1.1.x86_64
java-1_9_0-openjdk-headless-9.0.0.0~113-1.2.x86_64
