Checking that the software is deprecated is a thing but in the end the user won't be able to run the update, so we have two problems: - we should be able to install the distro from the very beginning: maybe the bug is rather that the package manager is locked by two task only reading the repos, - the deprecated state of the software and the danger of running outdated software isn't stated strongly enough: saying "you have updates available" and "you can't update your system" doesn't make security issues explicit enough.
