This sounds weird since Leap 15.2 uses the same Xserver version as Leap 15.1, but indeed I can reproduce this. Looks like VIDMODE extension is missing on Leap 15.2 for some reason. As you already figured out gamma can be set via RANDR extension, which is what the games are using I suppose. The warnings in dmesg you're seing are unrelated to this.
