Sounds like you have a "rouge" .desktop file somewhere.

Could you try to reproduce with a "blank new user" - just to make sure it's not
something in your homefolder if this was an upgrade.

Further: Please give some more info about your setup.

This is a plain "GNOME" openSUSE install?
Using gdm?
