AFAICS these packaged defaults have done more harm than good, as I was predicting when they were requested initially. So, I am inclined to call these pool packages and packaged defaults a fail, drop them and leave it up to the installers to set defaults (or not) depending on the needs of the respective product, target platform and target audience.
