Correction: The minions can actually contact the master (e.g., running
"salt-call test.ping" on minions works fine). However, running "salt minion
test.ping" on the master yields the following error:

master:~ # salt minion test.ping
[ERROR   ] Unable to connect to the salt master publisher at
/var/run/salt/master
The salt master could not be contacted. Is master running?
