Alright, it seems we had that agreement to use rw long ago, even before grub2 integrated to yast. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Wed Dec 9 10:45:33 UTC 2009 - aj@suse.de - Mark root partition rw It's just newer patches (most are from me) still applied ro options because I thought it was right thing to follow (see my comments above for reason). Btw, I still don't think we should do ro mount for root partition when encountered ro in kernel command line. It's meant for kernel on how to mount root partition while it's booting up. But not for the initrd, which should remount it according to /etc/fstab or such.
