Thanks Ludwig for bringing the machine over.

It seems to be a classic case of "oh noes, the drm-kmp has been installed".
Removing it fixes the issue for me.

It's a known issue, and unfortunately we can't change the released medium now.

I'll leave the machine here for you to pick up - please let me know if it works
after removing drm-kmp-default *and* rebooting.
