Did you install a 64bit system? it's a bit tricky to set up. I firstly installs the system with x86_64 ovmf and then install 32bit grub2 and switch to ia32 ovmf. The error only happens with so-called mixed mode, i.e. 64bit OS + 32bit UEFI.
