Comment # 1 on bug 1226396 from James Carlson

Found a way: different USB ports on this BIOS have different behaviors.
Switched to a different port, and it allowed a legacy USB boot sequence and the
upgrade worked.

Sure wish it were at all easier, but at least I'm out of this minor nightmare.
