Confirmed, crashes here, too, with the same error.
In addition, I do get a warning 

(geeqie:14236): Gtk-WARNING **: 15:23:57.212: Theme parsing error:

/home/pit/.config/gtk-3.0/window_decorations.css: No such file or directory
Xlib: sequence lost (0x100af > 0xb1) in reply type 0x0!

Not sure where that comes from, I can't remember having done configurations
there.  It's not geeqie-related (at least I also got it after removing my
~/.config/geeqie).

Downgrading to previous version geeqie-1.5.1-4.1.x86_64 fixes the crash.
(The gtk warning remains)
