for the record, we did see some possibly related problems
on SUSE OpenStack Cloud7 with SP2
where we use LVM only for non-root purposes.
The system booted fine, but always hung 90 seconds when shutting down in
LVM2 PV scan on device 7:0

which is supposed to do a lvm pvscan --cache 7:0
