Some good news: while I could not figure out what precisely the problem was¹,
with the package from openSUSE:Factory (repo-oss), we have just today pushed a
version update to 5.11.2 and the updated package from the same repository works
on my system.

Let me know if it does for you as well, when the package is available with the
next TW snapshot.

¹Think it just needed a rebuild against some other updated library in the repo,
but just my guess.
