The system name is likely set by a DHCP Server (which, in a university, I'd not even be surprised if it's a rogue one) You can disable this behavior in YaST - System - Network Settings - Hostname settings (assign DHCP name) Please adjust the systemd journal (journalctl) from around the time you were at the univeristy Also: are you using NetworkManager or wicked?
