https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1234026 Bug ID: 1234026 Summary: preempt=full causes frequent freezing Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: 64bit OS: openSUSE Tumbleweed Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel Assignee: kernel-bugs@opensuse.org Reporter: lassi.vaatamoinen@gmail.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Target Milestone: --- Found By: --- Blocker: --- HW: Lenovo P15 Gen 2 (Intel) openSUSE Slowroll kernel: 6.11.5-1-default KDE Plasma 6.1.5 HW: AMD Ryzen 3600 openSUSE Tumbleweed kernel: 6.11.8 default KDE Plasma 6.2.3 Enabling preempt=full for the default kernel seems to cause repeating 1-2 seconds freezing periods. The frequency of freezing is a bit sporadic: sometimes it may be freeze-free for an hour or two after a boot, sometimes it starts freezing every ten seconds after a boot. The issue seems hardware independent. I have it happening on a Lenovo P15 Gen2 Intel laptop, and on a AMD Ryzen at home. During the break, keyboard inputs get duplicated, mouse freezes, and no UI updates happening on Wayland. I have not been able to point out any particular out of the system journal or kernel logs. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
