Switching to a console shows that the process y2base is in uninterruptible sleep (zombie): # ps aux | grep -e '[y]2base' -e '^U' USER PID %CPU %MEM VSZ RSS TTY STAT START TIME COMMAND root 3732 2.0 4.0 115516 83188 tty1 Dl+ 21:57 1:10 y2base \ installation ("initial") qt --noborder --autofonts --fullscreen After ~1 hour, it didn't recover from the problem. This was the second try with "openSUSE-11.0-NET-i386.iso". It hangs at exactly the same step (at 16%). The laptop is a new Fujitsu Siemens Esprimo Mobile V5505: <http://facts.fujitsu-siemens.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=dspcontent&lid=161&page=1> I couldn't find any relevant log file.
