There is something quirky with the way USB needs to initialized on this boards
from what I understand. I read about it previously. A lot of ARM hardware seems
to be quirky in some way as far as support goes. I still think it would be a
good idea to make sure that all of this does work on the Raspberry Pi platform
since it's one of the more accessible or common AARCH64 pieces of hardware we
can get to run Linux on. All of this was indeed working in the past relatively
reliably (in 2020-2021).
