Thanks. This that change "nomodeset" is no longer needed. I would remove it. In
theory the kernel update may have fixed a regression which had been introduced
in previous kernel versions. Well, you can try without the modeset module
option with that new kernel if you like. And as I said without modeset you
can't use Wayland. Only X.
