Steps to reproduce:
create a file with a 0 in it, both kate and kwrite crash on opening.

Here attached the debug: the first char of the annexed file is 0, opening with
kate or kwrite results in a crash.

~:~> kate kate.gdb
KCrash: Application 'kate' crashing...

KCrash: Connect sock_file=/home/michele/.kde4/socket-hod.lem3/kdeinit4__0

~:~> kwrite kate.gdb
KCrash: Application 'kwrite' crashing...

KCrash: Connect sock_file=/home/michele/.kde4/socket-hod.lem3/kdeinit4__0
