The texworks in MiKTex has scripts for the typeset menu that do bibliography and index processing. They also call TeX multiple times, as needed, to resolve cross references. While the windows application texify has not been ported to Linux, there are equivalents, e.g., latexmk, for Linux. It should be relatively easy to provide the same scripts for livetex-texworks; the packaging might require the use of update-alternatives.
