well at least for vidcutter, this is not solved. Now with the recent updates I
suppose you did deactivate hardware acceleration? Because the previews work but
the program is not able to perform. Extreme sluggishness and slowness, high cpu
load, the cutting process aborts when the program tries to write the project
file. 

Kaffeine does work but without vdpau support the change of channels often
requires a kill because the program hangs and freezes. However it is possible
to watch a channel. 
So for me I have unfortunately to report that this is effectively still a
problem.
