In comment-5 you wrote: " I suggest to uninstall xf86-video-nouveau package (nouveau X driver) and restart X (or reboot). If this doesn't help, also uninstall package Mesa-dri-nouveau (again restart X or reboot)." Then i always tried first removing just xf86-video-nouveaMesa-dri-nouveau and then removing also. I never user init or startx. I always reboot the system Now i removed /tmp/.X0-lock AND /tmp/.X11-unix AND /tmp/.ICE-unix. But, when i restarted system Xserver hangs up again and three files has been created again. I too suppose that where is something wrong in any config file. But system worked fine for a lot of time, years if you consider that i just updated from an Leap version to the following. In last months i didn't changed nothing in configurations, except upgrades. Problem arrived just after last kernel update. Then i suppose that this operation changed something in some config file. Andrea
