BTW everybody reading this please note that there is still the original 'USERDEL_CMD' parameter in /etc/login.defs. This has been there upstream for a long time; it is meant for the site admin to add commands to be executed when deleting a user account. The SUSE-specific counterparts USERADD_CMD, USERDEL_PRECMD, USERDEL_POSTCMD had been added on top of that because... reasons (?!?). That's the ones that are now gone, and that caused problems here.
