/me is confused: what I wrote in comment #1 is only true for Tumbleweed - but not for Leap 42.x (which this bug is filed against); there we locked on gdm 3.14.x to not have this functional change in the lifespan of SLE12 (which was shipped with 3.10 in GA) - and the change happened with GDM 3.16
