Disabling the decibel range" It's unlikely the cause. Can you rollback? If not, please try to check which packages have been actually updated. If it's about the kernel regression, you should be able to boot with the previous kernel and see whether it works or not. And, if the previous kernel doesn't work, it's likely a breakage in other layer, e.g. the sound service like PulseAudio or pipewire.
