The updated package is on the way to Factory/Tumbleweed: https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/770040 I'll prepare and submit an update for Leap 15.1 as well. I do think that ideally kiten should support both encodings in the future, there are even two upstream bug reports that might be related to this: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=325022 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=386843 (at least the current EDICT download on the page mentioned in the latter one is UTF-8 encoded...) If that would happen we could also switch back to using edict's files, but for now it should be fine to just ship the files in kiten again (as we did for years before that change).
