The dmesg command never completes, or if it does, I haven't waited long enough to find out. It only takes about a minute for the file to grow to a GB. I know in the past that repeating message about an IRQ trap has used up all of my memory and caused my computer to freeze up. So far I've stopped dmesg with ctrl-c because it just keeps creating output like the excerpt I posted earlier.
