The initial problem was hit with doxygen source code retrieved from OBS
environment (using osc command)

cd doxygen
quilt setup doxygen.spec

I do not know what is going wrong with your trial.
I just did the same git clone as you tried and executed the commands you
specified.
* I did not have undefined reference error.
* I ultimately failed with "double free or corruption" as previously reported.
* If that could help I may give you access to my guest (will send private mail)
