Hi, I'm the author of the quoted forum post. I can confirm the problem is still
there on Leap 42.1.

I've set a local source of installation using http. When I try to register this
service using the file /etc/slp.reg.d/install.suse.http.reg with the following
lines:

# Register the HTTP Installation Server
service:install.suse:http://$HOSTNAME/repository/path/,en,65535 
description=HTTP Repository

then I restart the service and it apparently loads, but when I look the log I
see this message:

ERROR: Invalid reg file format near:
service:install.suse:http

Listening on loopback UDP...
Listening on 192.168.0.250 ...
Multicast (IPv4) socket on 192.168.0.250 ready

Besides, when I execute this command:

slptool findsrvtypes

the service is only listing ntp and ssh services

service:ntp
service:ssh
service:fish

So...
