https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=462256 Summary: alpine: bad URL-Viewers in default configuration Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: andrei.gaponenko@cern.ch QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Community User Hello, In the default configuration (empty "url-viewers" string in pinerc) alpine uses "w3m -dump _URL_" as the viewer. The "--dump" option causes w3m to dump the formatted page to the terminal and exit immediately, so that its output is hidden in a fraction of a second by alpine's display of the original e-mail message. How to reproduce: install alpine-2.00-3.5 from openSUSE-11.1-Oss. Set up INBOX path to something suitable so that you can access e-mails. Open an e-mail that contains an URL. When the URL is highlighted on the screen, press "Enter". Observe the prompt "View selected URL .... ?". Press "A" to "edit the application". Observe: "Viewer Command: w3m -dump _URL_" Press "Enter" to accept. Observe that the default setting does not let you to read the web page. The --dump switch should be removed. Even better, set up the default to something nicer, like url-viewers=_TEST("test -n '${DISPLAY}'")_ /usr/bin/firefox /usr/bin/w3m Regards, Andrei -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
