during the final stages of sudo zypper dup, while kpartx configuration took place, the screen went blank. i then used the key combination Atl+Ctrl+f1 to try to bring back gui interface. however, I'm not sure if this key combination actually brought the screen gui back or not. when this happen, it caused concern. however when i rebooted the computer everything was fully functional
