I did download the preconfigured image and followed the basic ingnition setup with defining root password "password" via preconfigured hash https://documentation.suse.com/sle-micro/5.0/single-html/SLE-Micro-installation/index.html#sec-slem-ignition However I couldn't login as root on the default image due to "PermitRootLogin without-password" localhost:~ # grep -i root /etc/ssh/sshd_config PermitRootLogin without-password # the setting of "PermitRootLogin without-password". #ChrootDirectory none I feel that we need to follow SLE Micro here, otherwise people will not be able to follow SLE Micro docs. Unless they use combustion and will add they key to authorized_keys. Richard confirmed that not permitting root password login is also the default on MicroOS,therefore we most likely inherited it from the openSUSE default settings.
