A little correction of subject the real problem is that welcome application is larger than a workspace 1 preview which seems to be a bug in application scalaing in lower resolutions (1024x768) on GNOME. So it appears as that there is no background, but in fact it's just the welcome-app covering the entire desktop preview. GNOME team what do you think?
